Only 3 days since my last post and here I am again with two cards for Darnell's new Twofer challenge. I used to love joining in with her NBUS challenges as it encouraged me to delve into my mountain of unused stash, so I was determined to join in with this new challenge. It actually was a challenge for me as the only feather stamp I owned has gone walkabouts so my feathers are in the shape of a very old Cheery Lyn Hummingbird die. At least in my search I did dig out a new stamp and some of my very old stash and now have two more cards made.

I'm heading over to the Twofer card challenge with these two cards

So in a bit more detail here's my first card.
I used one of my new (I've got so many uninked which I bought last year) Penny Black stamps 'delicate florals' and stamped a couple of times onto a card blank with grey, light blue and lilac inks, then added a sentiment from Clearly Besotted before sticking the Hummingbird in place. At this point I liked what I had made so resisted the temptation to add anything else..... I think this is the most CAS card I've ever made.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Penny Black and More challenge 'something new'

Stamping Sensations challenge 'cold and frosty colours'

AAA Cards challenge 'quote - let today be the start of something new'

Penny Black Saturday challenge 'anything goes'

For my second card I used a dotty embossing folder along with a Memory Box 'catalina wreath' which I stuck to a scalloped edge circle die-cut. Then a few flowers, pearls, silver peel-off sentiment and my Hummingbird and the card was finished.

I'm entering the Allsorts challenge 'no patterned paper' with this card

That really gave my crafting a kick-start, so a big thank you to Darnell and her super Design Team.... but now I really must go off and make a start on my granddaughter's birthday card!

Birthday Wishes

Well I'm having a pretty slow start to the year crafting wise and it took me ages to come up with this card for my Daughter's birthday. I used a Bugaboo image coloured with Promarkers and the paper is a freebie I found from The Coffee ShopBlog. Dies are Paper Smooches 'big balloons' Poppystamps 'general store tag' and Joanna Sheen 'tied ribbon' which were cut from snippets of card left over from matting the image. I haven't got a 'daughter' sentiment stamp so the tag was hand-written before I tied it to the balloons with some baker's twine

I'm hopping along to the following challlenges with this card

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Double D challenge 'anything birthday / anniversary goes using moodboard'

Country View challenge 'anything goes'

Simon Says Wednesday challenge 'use patterned paper'

I'm off now to make a start on my granddaughter's card.... with a bit of luck I might just get it finished in time for her birthday in February! Thanks for popping by today and I hope you have a fun weekend whatever you're up to.

New Year Snippets

Happy New Year

Here's wishing each and every one of you a happy and healthy 2018 and I hope each day brings you lots of laughs and smiles.

I've finally made my snippets card so now I'm skipping over to Pixie's Snippets Playground to join the other Playmates. The image is from Bugaboo and coloured with Promarkers with an extra balloon cut out and added on a foam pad. Then I juggled and stuck some small snippets of coloured card around the edge of a card base to make a frame before adding the image which hid all the uneven edges and blank bit in the middle. To finish I added a peel-off 'happy birthday'

Thank you all so much for the words of comfort you left me in my last post.... I really appreciate all your kindess and friendship and I'm now managing to get myself into some sort of normality so I should be catching up with you all properly in the next week or two.

Christmas Wishes

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all my wonderful blogging buddies a very Merry Christmas full of lots of goodies as well as plenty of good cheer, followed by only the very best of health and happiness for 2018

As some of you may know the last 3 months have been a bit of a struggle for me with my Hubby and Dad but I did manage to get this card made for my precious little granddaughter. It was nothing like the one I'd intended to make but Mojo just wouldn't come to play. I've used an image from Di's Digi stamps coloured with Promarkers and with Stickles and a couple of pompoms added to the hats and fur trim. The paper is LOTV, a piece of card die-cut along the top for the snow, some Tim Holtz snowflakes die-cut from foam and a computer generated sentiment to finish. All I can say is thank goodness for paypal as I was able to buy her presents on the internet from shops in Australia so that Santa will be able to take them straight to her on christmas eve!

I shall enter this card in the following challenges
Passion for Promarkers Mega Christmas challenge 'add a sentiment'
Words 2 Craft By challenge 'christmas in my heart'
Country View challenge 'christmas'

Dad's funeral took place the other day and it was every bit as hard as I'd imagined it would be and I even had to endure insults from my Dad's neighbour afterwards. Anyway I received a lovely email of support from my daughter this morning which made me think.... and I have made a New Years resolution which I'm starting straight away -  to find at least one thing to smile and laugh about each day - and so my first smile is my Dad and my first laugh is at people who think themselves such perfect beings who are better than others.

Now before I go I want to ask you all a question.... as I managed to keep my 2017 resolution, which was to buy lots and lots of crafty goodies, I'm just wondering if you think I should carry on with that one as well? - don't knock it.... that's the first resolution I've ever managed to keep! Anyways please be patient with me as I slowly make the rounds to catch up with you all and hopefully I can get myself craftuly motivated  in the new year.......

................. so until then, take care and have a wonderful festive holiday all of you and thanks for being such good friends.

Update and extended blog break

I'm just popping by to explain my blog break. My Dad was admitted to hospital at the beginning of November and things have been up and down with him during that time. Yesterday evening he finally gave up his fight to live... just 5 days before his 97th birthday. I will be joining you back in Blogland at some point but not quite sure when that will be. Take care all of you and happy crafting.

Taking a break

Hi everyone, I hope things are well with you all.

I'm just popping in to let you know I shall be missing from Blogland for a while but I'll be back to catch up with you all just as soon as I can.

Christmas Critters

Morning all and thanks for popping by today. I made this card at the weekend for a couple of challenges but I've only just got around to taking a photo of it......

I used one of the old LOTV toppers which I die-cut and matted with Xcut dies. The strip of card was embossed with a folder that was a magazine freebie with some thin strips of red paper added on the top and bottom. Finally I added a Tattered Lace snowflake die with a gem to finish.

I made this for the Allsorts challenge 'christmas creatures' and as I used  snippets of card I'm heading over to play at  Pixie's Snippets Playground

So is anyone else beginning to panic like me about the number of christmas cards they've still got to make or are you super organised? This is the only card I've managed to make since my last post and Mojo has gone into hiding again so not sure when the next one will get made!

Good Morning to you all and thanks for popping by today. It's a lovely autumnal day here, chilly but dry and the sun is poking his head out too.... and so on to my cards with autumnal themes.

First up is a one layer card (which is a very rare thing for me) made using only Memento Dew Drop inks and Uniko products. First off I stamped a flower from the 'flower power #3' set, then used my newly purchased 'wonky stripes' stencil to make the background (I'm so glad I bought that stencil) and finally I added a sentiment from the 'all occasion sentiment set. I know it perhaps looks a bit more summery than autumnal in the photo but it really is like the colours of the leaves around our home.

I made this for the following challenges

Uniko challenge 'autumn/fall with the optional twist of halloween'

For my second card I used one of the decoupage sheets from the Joanna Sheen 'House Mouse' cd. The background paper is from the Prima 'botanical collection, the sentiment is recycled from a shop bought card and the lettere are Memory Box dies.

I made this for

CD Sunday challenge 'when autumn leaves start to fall'

Words 2 Craft By challenge 'autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower'

I don't know about you but the days are racing by here and I'm so behind with all my jobs. Still at least Hubby's health is improving daily and he's getting back to his normal self... it's surprising what a difference a couple of weeks can make. I'm off to make a start on some christmas cards now, well at least those that are bound for foreign lands. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the week whatever you may have planned.

Get Well and a Snippets Christmas

Hi everyone.... remember me?  Thanks for all your kind wishes for Hubby's recovery and I'm happy to say he's out of hospital but things are taking a bit longer than expected. Still at least he's a lot better than he was three weeks ago and I even managed to get a bit of crafty playtime over the weekend and have a couple of cards to show you that I made from bits and pieces in my box that I just juggled around with.

First up is a Bugaboo image coloured with Promarkers, a Uniko sentiment and pearlescent card embossed with a Die'sire embossalicious folder. To finish I added a couple of flowers with card candi centres.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

As You Like It 'ribbon or flowers'
That was a bit of a tough choice as I use both but I finally settled for flowers and specifically the first type of flowers I bought when I started cardmaking. Flowers are a lovely finishing touch and can cheer up a card so much - and this type are perfect for those that have to be posted in the mail.

Passion for Promarkers 'embossing'

Next up is my snippets card. I played truant from the Playground last time around due to my nursing duties so was determined to skip along this fortnight to say a quick hello to the Playmates and Miss Di. All I had to do for this card was some sticking onto a hammered effect card base as I'd already got all these dies cut from snippets of gold and white card. I was going to add some ribbon to hide the join between the two gold die-cuts but decided it looked okay without so left it with the snowflake border tucked under the sentiment. Then I added a couple of pearls to the snowflakes and the job was done. So I'm skipping off to Pixie's Snippets Playground  with this one.

I should be able to start catching up with you later this week but until then I'd like to say a big thank you to you all for your continued visits and kind words... you really are the greatest blogging friends.

NBUS Penny Black

I'm sorry I've not been around visiting the last few days but I haven't really been in the mood for blogging. My hubby wasn't feeling well at the beginning of the week and what we assumed was a bug actually turned out to be acute appendicitis and peritonitis so he ended up being whisked off to hospital for emergency surgery. He's now got post-op complications so his hospital stay is longer than expected. I'm just keeping my fingers, toes, legs and everything crossed that he gets better soon.

After my last post I inked up another NBUS item - a Penny Black stamp called 'snowy perch' - and have made a very uninspiring card with it..... (I am so lost without Hubby here to give his opinion).... but I thought I would drop by so you don't think I'm being rude and ignoring you all.

While I'm here I'll link up to the following challenges

Darnell's NBUS challenge #12

Penny Black's Holiday Head Start challenge

Penny Black and More challenge 'close to nature'

Thanks for your visit today and I'll come and catch up with you when I can.
